KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Another strong winter storm has hit the Heartland in less than a week.

In Kirksville, city crews have been working round the clock since midnight Monday night when the snow emergency in the city took effect.

Road crews have been focused first on emergency snow routes then moving into clearing secondary and city streets.

City officials are once again asking residents on those streets to try to move their cars to make way for the plows to come through.

"We appreciate the citizens for helping us by moving their vehicle when the emergency declaration came into place. It helps speed the snow removal process. When we have this much snow, everyone is working together to get it moved. It has made the process much easier," said Kirksville Assistant City Manager Melanie Smith.

City crews will be working overnight into tomorrow to have as many roads cleared out as possible for the Wednesday morning commute. Roads could re-freeze overnight so take it easy if you need to travel.

Also, city trash pick up will resume Wednesday.
