LA PLATA, MO -- Some northeast Missouri residents were able to get a hearty meal Saturday while helping a local organization.

The La Plata Lions Club held their Soup, Chili and Pie Supper Saturday afternoon at the La Plata Elementary School.

About 250 people came out to enjoy a warm and delicious meal for only $5.

For Lions Club members,  this is one of their biggest fundraisers of the year.

"It's the good food and the cause. Everyone knows what the Lions Club is, so we continue doing our good work," said Supper Chairman Gary Smith.

Smith also said that he continues to see the event's turnout get bigger in the 14 years he has been with the Lions Club.

All of the money raised from the supper will go towards the club's service projects in the area.
