BROOKFIELD, MO -- One Heartland school is getting more money to help students continue to do the right thing.

Brookfield High School was presented a with a $500 grant check Wednesday from the Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation.

The money is for Brookfield High's "Very Important Bulldog Program" which recognizes students that do their best in every aspect of school from academics to after school activities that help bring more positive influences to the students and the school.

For administrators and students, this was a very happy and important day they will always remember.

"Our students are excited and very appreciative of anything that is given to us to recognize doing the right thing. It's been a focus. They are very proud of that," said Principal Vicki Anyart.

The grant was written by Anyart herself. There were 84 grant applications submitted and only 14 grants were awarded, including Brookfield High School.
