KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A couple of Heartland organizations are once again helping kids in the community.
The Kirksville Moose Riders Lodge #1751 is working with the Women of the Moose Chapter 824 to present Tommy Moose Dolls to agencies that perform public service.
The dolls are given to the Kirksville Police, and Fire Departments, the Adair County Sheriff's Office and Ambulance District, Truman State University Public Service, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol to give to children in times of crisis or a traumatic situation.
"We did this a couple of years ago, and we got tremendous feedback from the departments that these dolls do help. We decided to do it again so here we are," said P.T. Woods of Kirksville Moose Riders Lodge.
"During a trauma or a tragedy, these dolls are a great comfort to children. The emergency personnel hands these to a child, and it's just wonderful for them," said Kelly Jefferson of the Women of the Moose.
The presentation of the dolls will take place on Monday, Nov. 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Kirksville.
