Crash seriously injures one

NOVELTY, MISSOURI -- A Kirksville man remains hospitalized following a weekend crash. 

Randal Gaines, 51, is listed in serious condition at University Hospital in Columbia. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Gaines was driving southbound on Highway 15, just north of Novelty in Knox County, early Sunday morning. 

The car went off the roadway, struck a tree and overturned, throwing Gaines from the vehicle. 

He was taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center, and then transferred to University Hospital for further treatment. Gaines was the only person in the car.
