SELMA, IOWA -- The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department now says four men were arrested in connection with a weekend shooting incident in Selma.
 
There are still plenty of questions about what actually happened on Saturday afternoon in the tiny Van Buren County hamlet. But one of the four men arrested has been charged with attempted murder.

I.C.:  At approximately 1:15 p.m., the Van Buren County Sheriff officers responded to a 911 call of an altercation with shots fired at 11883 Bridge St., Selma, IA.  Also responding was the Iowa State Patrol, Jefferson County Sheriff Office, Wapello County Sheriff Office, Iowa DNR, Van Buren County Ambulance and Van Buren First Responders.

Offenses: assault-aggravated
Drugs-narcotic violations
Destruction/damage/vandalism of property

Charges:         

Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 18:23 hrs. Rusty Eugene Salter, 32, of 11620 Rabbit Run Rd. Lot 153, Ottumwa, IA  was arrested at Ottumwa Regional Hospital, Ottumwa, IA. Salter was arrested and charged with attempt to commit murder and criminal mischief in the second degree.  Salter is being held on a $50,000.00 bond

Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 14:00 hrs. Richard Todd Ritz, 52, of 508 S. Brookview Ln., Mustang, OK  was arrested at  11883 Bridge St., Selma, IA. Ritz was arrested and charged with  assault (display or use of weapon) and willful injury.  After posting $5,000.00 bond he was released

Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 12:52 hrs. Randall Ray Ritz, 50, of 11883 Bridge St., Selma, IA was arrested at 11883 Bridge St., Selma, IA. Ritz was arrested on a warrant(s) for marijuana manufacturing (one or more plants) and failure to affix drug tax stamp. He is being held on a $5000.00 bond

Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 20:00 hrs. Austin Lee Ritz, 29, of 3813 Windscape Ave, Oklahoma City, OK was arrested at 11883 Bridge St., Selma, IA. Ritz was arrested on a warrant(s) for willful injury. He was released after posting a $5000.00 bond on 10/15/12

Two men are in custody following a shots-fired incident at a residence in Selma, Iowa.
 
According to Chief Deputy Brad Hudson with the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 1:00 p.m., deputies and other law enforcement responded to a 911 call in Selma.
 
Hudson went on to say that deputies determined that several shots had been fired into a residence that was occupied.
 
Two arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and Hudson says more are likely.
 
The names of those arrested have not been released.
 

 
A shooting in Selma, Iowa is under investigation by the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a shots-fired call Saturday afternoon near Selma, Iowa.

When KTVO got to the scene, Iowa State Patrol, Van Buren Sheriff’s Department and EMT’s were present.

One man at the crime scene in a striped shirt and stocking cap appeared to be in handcuffs.

KTVO saw another man that appeared to be bleeding from the head.

We spoke to a next door neighbor who said she had heard a fight outside and then two gun shots go off.

Currently the situation is under investigation.
