JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Low-income Missouri families can get extra help with heating costs this winter.
The federal Department of Health and Human Services is releasing more than $9.5 million to help poor Missourians pay their energy bills.
Missouri has received $45 million in federal funds for heating costs in each of the last three years.
The latest release of money is in addition to federal energy assistance Missouri receives automatically.
Households must have incomes below 150 percent of the federal poverty level to qualify for the assistance.
