Thanksgiving dinner could take a bigger bite out of your pocketbook this year. Who's the blame--the meals traditional centerpiece.

According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, there are three reasons for the increase in turkey prices: higher consumer demand, lowered turkey production, and higher feed prices.

We spoke with Jan Burch, the health market manager at Hy-Vee and she offers gluten free alternatives.

"Often you can tell a product is gluten free because it will say on the package, gluten free. However on other products you will have to either read the ingredients and know what the ingredients are that you have to stay away from."

Turkey farmers also saw higher costs for grain, due to the summer's drought.

The AFBF warns that you can expected to see a slight increase in the costs for dinner rolls and other items used to make your thanksgiving meal.

Here's what you can expect. A family of 10 can enjoy a the typical thanksgiving meal for just under $50.

This year's price for a 16 lb. bird takes a big chunk, costing you $22.23. Compared to last years $21.57

The overall price tag for your meal could've actually been lower, but thanks to a swell in meat and poultry prices that's not the case.

So while you're dollars may be stretched and your pockets pinched, with these gluten free alternatives, your thanksgiving day diets won't be punched.
