KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A northeast Missouri office is celebrating some improvements to its facility with an open house.

The University of Missouri Adair County Extension Office in Kirksville welcomed the public inside Tuesday afternoon to see the upgrades.

The Kirksville Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the extension office's newly renovated kitchen and basement, which were damaged by the flood of 2010.

Adair County Extension Council Chair Shelly Story said they have been waiting for this day for a very long time.

"It's finally here. That is our feelings. It seems like it has taken a long time to get here. Once it all got started, it did seem like it moved quickly. We are really excited the day is finally here," Story said.

Story also said the event was held to make the community more aware of what they are and the services they offer in the field of agriculture.

The extension office also had its annual dinner Tuesday evening.
