  • Friday, March 18, 2011  The Truman State Bulldogs have named their 11th head coach to lead the men's basketball program into the future on Friday morning. Matt Woodley of Des Moines Iowa will take over the reigns of former coach Jack Schrader. Woodley, graduate of Drake University, was ecstatic and humbled by his new coaching opportunity with his new dog pack. "I think it's a tremendous opportunity. It is a tremendous university and it really goes along the lines with the things I believe in, with the mission of the university and the kind of kids I want to recruit here at Truman State," said Woodley. "I first met up with him in Des Moines, Iowa. You could tell he had a passion and enthusiasm for basketball and young people. He just really was the best fit from his playing days at Drake all the way through his coaching and what he brings as a person, " said Truman State Athletic Director Jerry Wollmering. So what does Coach Woodley expect from his new team? "I want to win every game we play, but I also am very realistic. As far as I know we haven't made the conference tournament in four years, so that's something that we want to get done in the near future. We want to get into that conference tournament in March of next year," said Woodley.
