Scouting the Bronchos:
UCO comes to Kirksville on Thursday night fresh off a 72-67 home win against nationally-ranked Washburn on Saturday, Jan. 5.
That victory followed a 78-77 loss to Missouri Western on Thursday, Jan. 3. On the year, the Bronchos are 4-8 overall, 2-2 in the MIAA, and 2-4 in games away from Edmond.
The Bronchos rank fifth in the MIAA in scoring at 76.3 ppg but are last in defense (81.4 ppg) and field goal percentage (42.3%) on the offensive end.
Junior forward Josh Gibbs is one of three players in double-figures offensively, averaging 14.2 ppg, while also leading the squad at 5.9 rpg.
Senior forward Spencer Smith is next at 13.1 ppg and ranks eighth in the MIAA with 2.2 offensive rebounds per game.
Terry Evans is in his 11th season at UCO and has a 212-98 record at the school.
Truman State is scoring 72.9 ppg on the season (73.2 MIAA), shooting 45.0% from the field (43% MIAA), and 35.1% from three-point range (35.6% MIAA).
The Bulldogs are connecting at a 71.8% clip from the foul line through all 12 games.
Truman has already matched its 2012 road win total (2-12) through four road contests and is just three wins away from matching the 2012 home win total (6-7) with seven to play within the friendly confines of Pershing Arena.
The bulldogs ranked 4th the MIAA in three-pointers made per game (7.3), third in assist/turnover ratio (1.3), and fifth in both free throw percentage and turnover margin (+2.5).
Mike Carlson has inked his name all over the MIAA stat sheets, leading the league in free throw shooting (90.2%) and ranking fifth in the league in scoring (16.3), eighth in steals (1.7), blocks (1.2) and defensive rebounds (4.5), 12th in rebounds (6.2) and 13th in field goal percentage (52.9%).
