Truman women drop exhibition to Missouri State

The Truman Women’s Basketball team had three players score in double figures but the defending Missouri Valley Conference champion, Missouri State University Lady Bears defeated the Bulldogs 87-62 in exhibition play on Sunday afternoon.
Amy Briggs connected on her first five shots from the field, including three, three-pointers for a game-high 15 points for the Bulldogs while seniors Becka McHenry and Jennifer Conway added 12 and 10 apiece.
Briggs finished 6-of-10 from the field while dishing out four assist in 33 minutes of play.
Junior Bianca Szafarowicz grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds as Truman won the battle of the boards 40-39.
The Lady Bears (24-9; 14-4 MVC) forced 32 Truman turnovers converting them into 41 points. Tyonna Snow paced Missouri State with 19 points and was joined in double figures by Hannah Wilkerson (16), Kenzie Williams (12) and Tori Henderson (10).
Truman trailed by just five at 28-23 with five plus minutes left in the first half before the Lady Bears outscored the Bulldogs 17-10 and took a 45-33 advantage into the locker room.
The Bulldogs shot 41% for the game and hit 5-of-6 from beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes. They finished 8-of-16 from outside for the game. Missouri State shot 50% from the field.
The Bulldogs will play a second exhibition game on Friday night when they travel to the University of Illinois-Chicago. They will open up the regular at home on Saturday, November 17 against McKendree (Ill.) College.
