Truman volleyball sophomore setter Meghan Zimmerman was named the MIAA Specialist of the Week for the second time in as many weeks after setting the Bulldogs to a 3-0 record last week.
Zimmerman averaged 11.00 assists and 3.23 digs per set as the Bulldogs pushed their winning streak to 12 straight, matching the longest streak since the 2008 season.
The Papillion, Neb.-native recorded double-doubles in all three matches, putting up 49 assists and 11 digs in a five-set win at Missouri S&T on Tuesday (Oct. 16).
She then had a 40-assist, 18-dig match against Pittsburg State on Friday (Oct. 19) before finishing the week with a 54-assist, 13-dig night against Central Oklahoma on Saturday (Oct. 20).
The 18 digs against PSU marked a new career-best for the sophomore.
Zimmerman now has 15 double-doubles on the season and is the first Bulldog setter to earn multiple single-season MIAA Athlete of the Week awards since Christine Wagener in 2004.
The Bulldogs, who jumped three spots to No. 17 in this week’s AVCA top-25 coaches’ poll, will host Lindenwood on Tuesday (Oct. 23) night at 7pm in Pershing Arena.
