Truman State Volleyball wins two at the Nebraska-Kearney Invitational

Truman’s starting outside hitters averaged more than seven kills per set combined, and the defense held St. Cloud (Minn.) State and Maryville (Mo.) to a combined .122 hitting percentage en route to two wins on day one of the Nebraska-Kearney Invitational.
The Bulldogs (5-1) began the New Victorian Inn & Suites/Runza Fall Classic with a 3-1 (-14, 13-25, -22, -22) win against NSIC-foe St. Cloud before cruising to a 3-0 (-11, -16, -18) win against GLVC-member Maryville in the nightcap.
Sophomore OH Allie Brak put away 30 kills (4.29/set) in the two matches to lead the ’Dogs offensively on the day, while freshman OH/MH Ali Patterson added 21 kills (3.00/set) to add balance to the purple and white attack.
On the day, Truman hit .257 with only a minor hiccup in set two against SCSU while also serving eight combined aces.
Sophomore S Meghan Zimmerman tied her career-high with 43 assists against SCSU before following it up with 37 more against Maryville.
Sophomore DS/L Abby Moser led the team with 38 digs (5.43/set), with Brak adding 23 (3.29/set) on the outside.
The Bulldogs will carry a four-match winning streak into tomorrow’s doubleheader, as Truman faces Northern (S.D.) State at 10:00 am before closing the event with a 4:00 pm match against No. 13 Minnesota State.
