Senior Megan Buri and juniors Kelsey Twellman and Olivia Hayes were named to NSCAA South Central region teams on Friday afternoon, adding another set of achievements for the all-MIAA recipients.
Buri and Twellman were each named to the second-team, while Hayes earned third-team accolades after the trio combined for 14 goals and 15 assists in 2011.
They comprised three of the only four field players on the squad to start all 19 games and were responsible for seven of the team’s 11 game-winning goals on the year.
Buri – already named a second-team CoSIDA Academic all-American, second-team Daktronics all-region and first-team all-MIAA – jumped to the NSCAA all-region second-team this season after landing on the NSCAA all-region third-team each of the past two seasons.
She finished the season with two goals and a team-high seven assists while taking 30 total shots.
Twellman was recognized as an all-region player for the first time in her career after earning first-team all-MIAA honors for the second consecutive season.
She tied for the team-high in goals scored with eight – including five game-winners – and added four assists for a team-best 20 points. Her 73 shots (32 on goal) also led the squad on the year.
Hayes made it 3-for-3 on NSCAA all-region selections, as the junior landed on the third-team after scoring four goals and adding four assists this season.
She received all-MIAA second-team honors in 2011 and has been a staple on both the NSCAA all-region and all-MIAA teams throughout the first three seasons of her Truman career.
Truman finished the 2011 regular season with an 11-6-2 overall record, marking the 17th straight season with at least ten wins.
