Truman volleyball junior Megan Sharpe (Edwardsville, Ill., Edwardsville) became a third time selection to the AVCA South Central region team, as announced Tuesday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Sharpe previously earned first-team all-MIAA honors and will advance on to the national ballot for all-American consideration.
Sharpe was the 2009 AVCA national Freshman of the Year and is a two-time AVCA all-American.
She’ll look to make it three-for-three in 2011 after leading the Bulldogs in kills (389), kills per set (3.02), blocks (141), blocks per set (1.09) and hitting percentage (.351).
She had 21 matches with ten or more kills and tied her career-high with 20 kills in an Oct. 7 match against Northwest Missouri.
In addition, she became the 13th member of Truman’s 1,000-kill club on Oct. 29 against Fort Hays State.
She is a two-time AVCA all-American with this season’s announcement still to come and was the 2009 AVCA Freshman of the Year.
A two-sport athlete, Sharpe will soon lace up for the Truman women’s basketball team, having played an important role both as a starter and coming off the bench each of the past two seasons.
The MIAA littered the South Central all-region team, as Truman, Central Missouri and Washburn combined for seven of the 14 spots.
The AVCA will announce its all-Americans following the Thanksgiving holiday.
Truman has had 33 selections to all-region squads since 1994 and has put at least one player on an all-region team each of the past 14 seasons.
