The Truman volleyball team used 21 blocks and double-figure kill outings by Megan Sharpe and Molly Sinclair to post a 3-2 (-13, 24-26, -16, 23-25, 15-8) win against Lindenwood (Mo.) University in the opening match of the 2011 Arkansas Tech Invitational on Friday.
The Bulldogs (11-8) forced 42 Lindenwood hitting errors, 21 coming of the block variety, as Truman racked up the second-most blocks in school history in the match.
Sharpe led the Bulldogs with 11 kills and 12 blocks for her second kill/block double-double of the season, while Sinclair added a kill/dig double-double of her own with 10 & 10.
Setter Meghan Zimmerman finished the match with 18 assists and ten digs, while libero Abby Moser posted 20 digs, her 13th match this season with 20 or more.
Both teams totaled 47 kills in the match and Truman was out-dug by nine, but the team’s solid advantage at the net (21-9) sealed the difference in the match. Sharpe’s 12 blocks set a career-high and marked the 5th-highest single-match total in program history.
Both Sinclair and Allie Brak also set new career-highs at the net, as Brak totaled six block assists and Sinclair turned away five Lion attacks.
