Bulldog Women’s Swim team moved into second place and the Jerod Simek of the men broke a school record in day two of the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships on Thursday.

Simek broke the school record in the 500 free event with a time of 4:33.44, which is an NCAA A-cut time and was the second fastest time in the finals.

Simek placed first in the B-Finals and broke the record held by Robby Cooper of 4:34.91 in 2002.

Kate Aherne broke the pool record and her own conference record en route to a victory in the 200 IM.

Aherne touched the wall in 2:04.19 and was one of four Bulldog swimmers in the A-cut eight person final.

Aherne swam the leadoff leg of the 200 Free Relay squad that finished second by just .25 of a second.

Aherne, Kendra Brunkow, Carina Pautz and Jessica Jenkot finished the event in 1:35.89.

The other Bulldog relay team on the night hit an A-cut mark as the 400 Medley Relay finished in a time of 3:54.46.

The group consisted of Stacey Wymer, Emily Buss, Tanya Sylvester and Brunkow.

The Truman women trail Henderson State by a score of 344.5 to 326.5 while the men are in fifth place with 179 points and trail leader Missouri S&T by 125 points.
