Truman senior middle blocker Megan Sharpe was named an honorable mention all-region player by the AVCA, marking the fourth time she picked up all-region accolades in her career.
A three-time AVCA all-American coming into this season, Sharpe (Edwardsville, Ill., Edwardsville) posted her highest career kills per set and blocks per set marks in her final season, averaging 3.13 kills and 1.26 blocks per frame, while also hitting .346 overall.
She was one of only two players to be a unanimous first-team all-MIAA selection after ranking second in the league in blocks, fourth in hitting percentage and seventh in kills, yet still was omitted from the all-region primary team for the first time in her career.
Despite the MIAA and NSIC putting four teams apiece into the national tournament, the all-region player count was tilted heavily towards the northern league, as the NSIC landed 11 of the 14 spots on the primary team.
Nebraska-Kearney was rewarded with two players on the first-team, while the league’s other unanimous all-conference selection, Washburn’s Jessica Fey, also picked up all-region accolades.
Sharpe ranks seventh all-time in kills (1,435) and fourth in blocks (500) on Truman’s individual career charts and will graduate as the program’s all-time leading hitter by more than 30 points.
The Bulldogs will open postseason play on Thursday (Nov. 29) against Southwest Minnesota State at 2:30 pm in St. Paul, Minnesota.
