(AP) -- The Truman Women’s Basketball team made it two straight to start the season and two straight over the Quincy (Ill.) University Lady Hawks with a 62-52 win on Tuesday night.

Senior Becka McHenry led the Bulldogs with 17 points.

Truman (2-0) was down 17-11 at the 9:25 mark of the first half before the Bulldogs closed the first half on a 27-10 run and with McHenry’s buzzer beater, took a 38-27 lead into the locker room.

The ‘Dogs hit four of their five three-point attempts to start the game and shot 61% from the field during the half.

The Bulldogs led by as many as 18 points before the Lady Hawks whittled the deficit down to 10 before the final horn sounded.

McHenry was 7-of-9 from the field while adding seven rebounds, four assists and two steals in 30 minutes.

Amy Briggs scored 10 points off the bench on a pair of triples and Allie Norton had the final two three-pointers to finish with six points.

Truman shot 50% for the game from the field and were 5-of-8 from three.

They won the rebounding battle by a 34-26 tally with Bianca Szafarowicz pulling down a game-high nine for Truman.

The Lady Hawks (1-3) were paced by Erin Mennemeyer’s 13 and Maggie Cunningham’s 11 points but shot 39% for the game and were just 3-of-11 from outside the arc.

The Bulldogs will play a pair of games in the Lincoln (Mo.) University Thanksgiving Tournament starting on Friday afternoon in Jefferson City.

Truman will face the undefeated Missouri Western Griffons in the opener at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

The Griffons have knocked off Division I Missouri-Kansas City and nationally-ranked Metro (Colo.) State to start the season. Missouri Western is receiving votes in this week’s Women’s Basketball Coaches Association/USA Today Division II Coaches Poll.
