The Truman volleyball team held visiting Quincy to a -.054 hitting percentage and countered with a .291 mark of its own in a brisk 3-0 (-13, -13, -16) sweep on Tuesday night in Pershing Arena.
Truman (10-4) was never challenged in the first two sets, jumping out to a 14-3 lead in the first and a 10-3 lead in the second against the visiting Hawks (8-5). Truman did trail, 8-7, in the third set before rattling off an 11-2 run behind the strong serving of Taylor Mirka Ali Patterson and Emily Briseno to take an 18-10 lead and never look back.
Allie Brak (led all players with 10 kills, as seven Bulldogs tallied at least three kills.
After starting with just a .214 hitting mark in the first set, Truman continued to improve – hitting .310 in the second and .375 in the third – to end the match in just one hour and eight minutes.
Truman out-blocked QU 10-3, with Briseno and Megan Sharpe (totaling five blocks apiece. Abby Moserled all players with 18 digs, and Meghan Zimmerman posted a double-double with 26 assists and a dozen digs.
Zimmerman also added four aces.
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday night at 7:00 pm, getting back into MIAA play by hosting Missouri Western in Pershing Arena.
