The No. 23 Truman women’s soccer offense was blistering on Sunday afternoon, as the Bulldogs picked up a 4-2 road win at Northeastern (Okla.) State to knock NSU from the unbeaten ranks.
After NSU (6-1, 2-1 MIAA) scored to take an early lead in the eighth minute, Trisha Shoemaker scored back-to-back goals in the 12th and 17th minutes to put the Bulldogs (6-2, 3-1 MIAA) on top. For Shoemaker, her torrid goal-scoring pace continued, as the junior scored her seventh and eighth goals of the 2012 season.
The Riverhawks would get the equalizer right before the half, as the two squads played nearly identically in the first 45 minutes with nine shots apiece and a pair of corner kicks.
For the match, both teams totaled 17 shots, with Northeastern having the better run on net with a 9-7 edge.
Truman returns to action next weekend when it returns home for a Friday/Sunday slate against Missouri Southern (Fri., 3pm) and Central Missouri (Sun., noon).
The match against UCM will not count towards the MIAA standings.
