(AP) -- Mike Moustakas matched a career high with three RBIs and made a defensive gem in the ninth, helping the Kansas City Royals to a 4-3 victory Thursday night over the New York Yankees, who were anxiously awaiting news on injured closer
Mariano Rivera.

Baseball's career saves leader twisted his right knee while shagging fly balls near the outfield wall during batting practice.

Rivera grimaced in pain as he was loaded onto a cart and taken from the field.

Results of an MRI exam were not available by the game's conclusion.

Danny Duffy (2-2) pitched well into the sixth inning before turning the game over to the Royals bullpen, which held the Yankees in check until Jonathan Broxton came out for the ninth.
