(AP) - Former Cedar Rapids basketball star Wes Washpun says he'll next play college basketball at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.
Washpun told The Courier (http://bit.ly/Iez4Sz) that UNI called soon after he got his official release from the University of Tennessee.
Washpun averaged playing 10 minutes a game this past season and scored 16 points in 17 games for the Volunteers.
He says he had a good season in Knoxville, Tenn., and liked Tennessee's coach Cuonzo Martin.
But Washpun says he just felt like he had to come home to Iowa.
In a news release, Martin says the Tennessee program wishes nothing but the best for Washpun.
Washpun will have to sit out next season, and then will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
