The Truman softball team entered into a pair of slugfests on day three of its seven-day, three-state road trip, splitting a doubleheader at Cameron (Okla.) University on Monday afternoon.

The Bulldogs won game one 10-6 before dropping game two 10-9.

Truman (6-9) jumped out to a 6-1 lead in game one, as Cate Simon picked up a two-RBI double in the first before Kelsey Bollman (RBI double) and Bridget Schade (homerun) added two of Truman’s four runs in the second.

Bollman added a follow-up RBI single in the fourth, and both Kristin Grossman and Andrea Klipsch blasted homeruns in the fifth to build the Bulldog lead.

Ashley Rotkvich logged her first victory of the season, starting and pitching 4.1 innings, giving up four runs. Kelsea Dorsey entered in relief for 2.2 innings of scoreless pitching.

In game two, the ’Dogs got out quickly again, building a 2-0 lead behind homers by Bollman and Simon in the first and second innings.

The fireworks then began in the bottom of the third, as both teams scored in every half-inning the rest of the game, with the host Aggies taking an 8-6 lead in the bottom of the fifth and holding off a late Truman rally for a 10-9 win.

Liz Leath, Mary Manley, Bollman and Simon all recorded multi-hit games, and Kirsten Krause had the loss in relief after pitching 2.2 innings.

Dorsey started and pitched 3.1 innings, striking out three.

The Bulldogs continue their trip on Tuesday afternoon with a 12:00 pm doubleheader at East Central (Okla.).
