Truman State baseball loses conference opener

The Missouri Southern Lions took the conference series opener with the Bulldogs on Friday night in Joplin by a score of 9-3.

The teams will be back in action on Saturday with a pair of seven inning games starting at 1:00 p.m.
 
The Bulldogs took an early 1-0 lead but the Lions scored seven straight runs in a three-inning span to take the series opener 9-3.

Jarod Hahn went 3-for-4 with a double and Daniel Jewett had two hits and three runs scored for Truman, however the Bulldogs stranded 10 runners on base.

Tyler Stefan (0-2) was strapped with the loss after allowing seven runs, five earned on 10 hits in just three and a third innings.

The Lions collected 13 total hits, all singles and pitcher Cody Griebling (3-0) pitched eight innings, striking out nine for the win.
