After leading by as many as 15 with 3:06 left in the first half, the Truman women’s basketball team let their guard down in the second half to fall 73-68 against Pittsburg State University (Kan.)  on Wednesday evening.
 
The Bulldogs (10-7, 5-7 MIAA) were led by forward Jennifer Conway and guard Becka McHenry  as both women posted career nights in the contest.

Conway’s team-high 23 points sets her all-time mark originally set earlier this season. McHenry posted Truman’s first triple-double since Amy Eagan’s on December 1, 1998 with 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 14 points.
 
Truman started off strong by shooting 61% from the floor and 50% from beyond the arc.

At the 16:14 mark, a jumper by McHenry ignited the Bulldog offense as the ‘Dogs rattled off a 7-0 run early in the half.

With just over four and a half minutes left in the half, a jumper by Conway started another Bulldog run that resulted in the 15-point lead late in the half.
 
A jumper with three seconds left in the half by Jenny Dorman (Pella, Iowa, Pella) gave Truman a 13-point advantage over the 16th ranked Gorillas (17-2, 11-1 MIAA)
 
The cold shooting crept back in the beginning of the second half for the ‘Dogs, with Allie Norton's  three-pointer at 17:58 holding to be the only Truman basket in the first seven minutes of the half.

Pitt State continued to chip away at the Bulldog lead, ultimately overtaking the Bulldogs after an 8-0 run late in the second half.

The ‘Dogs would fight back to tie it up, but would never fully recover and regain the lead.
 
The Bulldogs went a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity strip, while the Gorillas went 24-for-30 for the night. Truman also snatched 38 boards compared to Pitt State’s 31.
 
Nicole Gloor contributed 11 points, four of which were from the line. Norton ended with eight points after going 2-for-5 from long-range.
 
Gorilla freshman Lizzy Jeronimus led the squad after finishing the contest with 23 points and seven rebounds while guard Alexa Bordewick contributed with 15 points of her own.
 
The Bulldogs will travel back to Kirksville for their next match-up against nationally-ranked Emporia State University (Kan.) this upcoming Saturday.

Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Pershing Arena.
