Truman senior volleyball player Molly Sinclair was named to the Capital One Academic all-District team, presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America, on Thursday afternoon.
It's the second time Sinclair has been recognized for her classroom and on-court achievements.
Sinclair was a third-team Academic all-District selection last season as a junior before moving up one team this year.
She is averaging 2.22 kills per set and 2.89 digs per set as an outside hitter, having also added 14 aces.
She has ten matches this season with ten or more kills, including a career-high 20 against Missouri Western on Oct. 8. In addition, the senior has eight kill-dig double-doubles on the year, giving her 14 for her career.
A Business Administration major, Sinclair entered the 2011-12 academic year with a 3.71 grade-point average.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at her institution and be nominated by her sports information office.
The terms "Academic all-American" and "Academic all-District" are trademarked by CoSIDA and are the officially tracked academic awards by NCAA institutions.
Truman State University currently boasts the top number of Academic all-Americans of any NCAA Div. II program, with 96 since the program's inception in 1952. Truman ranks 15th in all NCAA divisions with 53 Academic all-Americans since 2000, tied with Arizona State.
