OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Ottumwa softball player Paige Schreiner has signed a letter of intent to play for Indiana State University next year.
Schreiner formally signed at a press conference at Ottumwa High School. She is the 11th Bulldog to play Division I softball in school history.
The senior batted .424 with 6 homeruns and 52 RBI's as a junior last season. The shortstop has hit 15 homeruns during her high school career so far, ranking second in school history behind Kelly Uhde who hit 29.
Schreiner said Second year Coach Shane Bowman convinced her that the Sycamores were the best fit for her.
"I love his philosophy for softball and how he wants to rebuild this program. I knew without a doubt when I left there that's where I wanted to go. I want to make a difference in our program. I've helped do that with our Ottumwa program. Now I'm ready to do it somewhere else."
