After three grueling games on the road, the Truman Bulldog Football team will return home to host Lincoln University on Saturday for Senior Day.

The Blue Tigers are making their first appearance at Stokes Stadium since 1987 as prior to the game 14 Bulldogs will be honored.

The Bulldogs are riding a 16-game winning streak against Lincoln but it will be the first meeting with the Blue Tigers since a 1989 game in Jefferson City.

Since then, Lincoln dropped their football program and resurrected it back in 2000 returning to the MIAA this season.

Truman is looking to right the ship after dropping their last four games, including Saturday’s 52-18 loss at Emporia State.

Anthony Brown recorded a career-high 145 yards receiving on nine catches but six Bulldog turnovers coupled with the Hornets going seven-of-eight in the redzone led to the loss.

Brown’s 145 yards receiving were the most by a Bulldog since James Walton caught nine passes for 159 yards in a 2004 game against Missouri S&T.

After winning their season opener against Avila (Mo.), the Blue Tigers have dropped eight straight games.

Their most recent loss came at the hands of the University of Central Missouri last week at home by a 49-6 tally.

Percy Turner led Lincoln with 123 yards rushing while also completing 14-of-37 passes for 94 yards in the loss.

Truman/Lincoln Series:

  • This will be the 22nd time Lincoln and Truman will meet on the gridiron but first since 1989.
  • The Bulldogs have won 16 straight against the Blue Tigers and have outscored Lincoln 329-33 in the eight meetings from 1982-1989.
  • The Blue Tigers won four of the first six games played in the series with the last one coming in 1973, 21-0 at Stokes Stadium.
  • Defensive back Tony Gerke had a big day the last time these two teams met with an 84-yard punt return, a 56-yard punt return and two interceptions that set up scores.
  • Truman had just 279 yards of total offense that day in Jefferson City in the 43-9 victory. Lincoln committed 23 penalties for 196 yards.
  • The closest game during the streak was a 14-0 Bulldog win in 1984. Chris Hegg had a three-yard run and Andre Gillespie a two yard run with Hegg’s coming in the first and Gillespie’s coming in the fourth quarter.
