(AP) -- The Truman tennis teams split a pair of 6-3 decisions against William Jewell College on Wednesday afternoon at home.

The men moved to 2-0 with their win while the women evened their mark to 1-1 with the loss.

The men took a 2-1 lead following doubles wins by Jake Ohlhausen and Griffin Smith at number two, 8-3, and Adam King and Joe Murphy-Baum 8-2 at number three.

Eric McCollough and Ohlhausen fell in the top two singles spots but the other four went the Truman way. 

 Smith, King and Murphy-Baum were straight set winners while Mike Merchant was taken to a tie-break set before prevailing.

The women were swept in doubles play to fall behind the eight ball. Dagmar Velez won in straight sets at number two singles as did Kati Austin at number five.

Kim Birenbaum rallied from a set down to take number three and the final Truman match of the dual.

Both teams will compete in the ITA regional event in Springfield, Mo. this weekend.
