Juniors Liz Lestmann and Jessica Schepker, along with sophomore Lynn Dreisilker, were selected to the Division II all-American Scholar team by the National Golf Coaches’ Association.
Lestmann received the honor for the second straight year after competing in all 18 regular season rounds for the Bulldogs. She had a stroke average of 84.6 and turned in a season-low 77 at the Mount Mercy Classic on April 10.
Both Schepker and Dreisilker picked up recognition for the first time in their careers for their work in the classroom and on the course, as the tandem combined to play 26 rounds on the season.
Schepker had a pair of top-5 finishes on the way to an 84.7 scoring average, while Dresilker added a pair of top-10 finishes of her own.
Ten women’s golfers from the MIAA were represented, with the Bulldogs and Northwest Missouri sharing top honors with three golfers apiece.
The criteria for selection to the all-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics, with a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.50.
Student-athletes must have also competed in at least 66 percent of the program’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
The Bulldogs, led by the aforementioned trio, will open its fall 2011 season at the Illinois College tournament in Jacksonville, Ill., on Sept. 3-4.
