After nearly three inches of rain fell overnight and into the early morning hours on Tuesday, the second round of the 2011 NCAA Midwest/South Central men’s golf regional was postponed.

An even-par 36 on the back nine highlighted Chris Kovach’s first round of the 2011 NCAA Midwest/South Central men’s golf regional on Monday, as the senior carded a 2-over-par 74 through the first of three rounds at Cherry Blossom Golf Course.
Playing in the final group of the day, Kovach had three bogeys and a birdie on the front nine to shoot a 38 but was sharper on the back, putting up four straight pars out of the gate.
He bogeyed the par-5 14th but rebounded right away by birdying the par-4 15th. He then closed with three pars on three of the back nine’s toughest holes to finish with a 74.
Kovach is tied for 34th after day one, eight shots behind Abilene Christian’s Cyril Bouniol.
