BOLIVAR, MO. -- Both Truman Tennis teams lost 9-0 to Southwest Baptist on Saturday in MIAA action. The teams are scheduled to step outside of conference play with a dual at Rockhurst University on Sunday.

The men had two chances to take an early doubles lead of 2-1 but the number two team of Kirk Schlueter and Adam King fell 9-7 in their match and the third team of Jon Gooch and Joe Murphy-Baum fell by the same score to give SBU an early three match cushion.

From there, the nationally-ranked Bearcats (32 in the nation) cruised to six, straight set singles wins for the 9-0 victory and their fifth MIAA win out of six matches played.  The Bulldogs fall to 0-3 in the conference.

The women couldn’t fair much better against the Bearcats as they were swept in the doubles matches 8-1, 8-1 and 8-5 and four singles matches were decided in straight sets. Dagmar Velez won her first set at number five singles before dropping the next two and Jennifer Hawkins won 6-2 in her opening set before being downed 6-3, 10-4 in number six.

The women fall to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
