Truman State University’s (Mo.) dynamic duo once again had opposing hitters baffled as the Bulldogs swept a conference doubleheader from Southwest Baptist University (Mo.) on Friday.

Truman took game one 2-0 behind Ryan Trimble’s complete-game one-hitter and the ‘Dogs plated a dozen in a 12-0 victory behind Jarrett Eiskina.

Michael Reese had the big day at the plate as he went 3-for-3 in game one with an insurance RBI in the top of the seventh after Dan Plecki staked the Bulldogs to a 1-0 lead with his team-leading third home run of the season leading off the fourth.

In game two, Reese went 3-for-6 with an RBI and run scored with Steven Rose collecting three RBIs. In addition to Reese and Rose, three other Bulldogs had multi-hit games.

Scott Doggett was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs with his double in the third inning breaking the game open at 5-0,

The Bearcats committed five errors in the second game with three coming in the first three frames.

The story continues to be the strong pitching by the Bulldogs over the past couple of weeks.

The last two MIAA pitchers of the week, Trimble and Eiskina, were dominating in the sweep.

Trimble allowed just a bloop single to right field in the third inning en route to posting his second straight complete-game shutout.

Trimble won his third straight decision with three Ks and 14 ground ball outs while lowering his ERA to 1.80. He has thrown 23 1/3 scoreless innings.

Eiskina fanned 10 SBU hitters while allowing just two hits through seven innings before being lifted in the eight for Logan Siegler.

Christian Witt fanned two more Bearcats in the ninth to extend the team’s overall scoreless streak to 24 1/3 innings.

The teams will continue their four-game series with another twinbill on Saturday.
