Seniors Anna Grinter and Tanya Sylvester posted 4th and 12th place finishes in the 200 Fly finals to add two more all-American accolades to the Bulldog mantle on Friday night, as Truman wrapped up the third of four days at the NCAA Div. II Swimming & Diving Championships.
After finishing sixth in preliminaries, Grinter beat out three other swimmers by a .52 margin to capture fourth and pick up15 team points for the Bulldog women with a time of 2:02.42.
Meanwhile, Sylvester added five points with her B-final time of 2:04.07, good for 12th overall in the event.
The four-person unit of Sylvester, Claire Myers, Stephanie Myers and Casey Jepsen also inked a time of 7:33.20 in the 800 Free Relay, coming in 8th to pick up 22 team points.
Other Bulldogs swam in preliminary meets early Friday but came up just short of reaching the final 16, as Jepsen (22nd), S. Myers (32nd) and C. Myers (37th) competed in the women’s 500 Free, while Jerod Simek placed 21st in the men’s 500 Free. Beth Eyanson finished 29th in the 100 Back.
As a team, the Bulldog women sit 16th with 61 total team points.
Truman will wrap up the 2011 Championships on Saturday, with Grinter (200 Back), Jepsen (100 Free), S. Myers (1650 Free) and Simek (1650 Free) set to compete in individual events.
