Southern Miss holds off Saint Louis 74-67

CANCUN, MEXICO (AP) -- Angelo Johnson scored 21 points and Southern Mississippi rallied from a 10-point deficit to defeat Saint Louis 74-67 on Thursday in the Cancun Governor's Cup.

The Golden Eagles (9-1) fell behind 27-17 with 7:21 left in the first half, but tied the game in the second before trailing by four, 60-56, with 6:43 left.

Johnson made a three-point play to cap a 7-2 spurt, giving Southern Miss the lead for good at 64-62 with 3:37 left.

The Golden Eagles hit 8 of 10 free throws in the final 2:15.

The Billikens (5-6), who led 35-33 at halftime, had a 49-40 advantage with 14:17 to go.

An 11-2 run by Southern Miss, including four points from Johnson, tied it at 51.

Sai'Quon Stone added 15 points for the Golden Eagles, hitting 7 of 9 free throws.

Mike McCall paced Saint Louis with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting, hitting five of the Billikens' 10 3-pointers.
