Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Emily Bozdeck has been named the MIAA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week after making two spot starts in net for the Bulldogs and recording a pair of shutouts as part of a 2-0 week.
Starting in place of regular goalkeeper Jayne Grisham, Bozdeck made three saves on the week in 180 minutes of action.
She stopped Nebraska-Omaha’s lone shot on goal and held the conference’s second-best scoring team goalless while the Bulldog offense recorded its highest goal total of the season on the road.
Then, on Saturday (Bozdeck made two saves in a 1-0 homecoming shutout of Missouri Southern.
Her stop of Shannon Kuhn’s shot in the 43rd minute and quick outlet led to Olivia Hayes’ score just 43 seconds later for the only goal of the match.
She later turned away Kuhn again in the 57th minute to keep the Lions off the scoreboard.
She is the third Bulldog to be named conference player of the week this season and is the second Truman keeper to earn the honor after Beth Bystrom ( picked up the award on Sept. 7 and Grisham (followed two weeks later on Sept. 21.
The Bulldogs are 7-2-4 on the season and are second in the MIAA with 22 points through 11 matches.
Truman will host Southwest Baptist this Thursday (Oct. 21) afternoon at 2 pm.
