JOPLIN, Mo. – The Truman Baseball team split a doubleheader with Missouri Southern on Saturday afternoon on the road. The Bulldogs got a complete game from Logan Siegler in a 3-2 win in game one but fell 5-2 in the nightcap. The teams will conclude their three-game set on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.

Jarod Hahn went 5-of-7 during the twinbill and the Bulldogs were six of eight in stolen bases. Truman pitchers, Siegler and game two starter Jarrett Eiskina held the Lions to just a .196 batting average in the pair.

Logan Siegler and the Bulldogs held on for a 3-2 win in the series opener as the Truman hurler tossed a complete game without allowing an earned run to pick up his second win of the season.

Truman got on the board in the first as Paul Trenhaile drove in his team leading 22nd RBI on a fielder’s choice that plated Corbin Williams.

The Bulldogs added one more in the second when a double steal set up another groundout run off the bat of Blake Marino.

Trenhaile would score the third run when he doubled and then came in on an errant throw by the Lions’ first basemen in the sixth inning.

Siegler was on cruise control allowing just two hits in the first five innings. A leadoff double in the sixth didn’t faze the Bulldog senior as he promptly struck out the side to send the game into the final inning.

Thomas Wilson started the frame by reaching on an error and the Lions would load the bases with one out.

Leadoff man Dallas Burke made it 3-1 with an RBI groundout and the Lions scored another with a two-out error.  Sam Ryan lined out to Joe Emery in left to end the game with the winning run at second base.

Siegler struck out three and walked just one while allowing five hits and two unearned runs. Payton Walker was tagged with the loss for the Lions.

A three-run eighth inning broke a 2-2 tie as the Lions salvaged the doubleheader split in game two.

Southern loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the eighth and Sam Ryan delivered the eventual game-winning RBI with a single up the middle. The Lions would tack on another following a groundout and a third run on sacrifice bunt that resulted in an error.

The Lions led 2-0 after five but the Bulldogs fought back to tie things up.

Zak Larkin reached base in his 18th straight game on an error, advanced to second on a balk and to third on a wild pitch. He would score on a single by Jarod Hahn, who has also reached base in all 18 games.

Hahn went 3-for-4 on the game while Paul Trenhaile continued his 10-game hitting streak with a single in three at bats.

Joe Emery tied the game in the seventh with a two-out double to right that scored Jordan Howe.

Brett Abell fanned a dozen Bulldogs and walked no one in the complete game win for the Lions. Jarrett Eiskina also went the distance allowing six hits and three earned runs but took the loss.
