The Cardinals outscore the Nationals 16 to 10

(AP) -- Jordan Zimmermann was hit hard, allowing eight runs and nine hits in three innings Friday during the Washington Nationals' 16-10 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
 
Zimmermann has given up 13 runs and 16 hits over nine innings in three spring training starts.
 
Matt Carpenter was 4 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI for St. Louis, which had 17 hits. Rob Johnson had two doubles and three RBIs,

Ronny Cedeno also drove in three runs and Shane Robinson hit a grand slam off Nathan Karns.
 
Winner Shelby Miller, making his first spring training start, gave up two runs and three hits in three innings.
 
Micah Owings had a solo home run for Washington, and Zach Walters hit a two-run drive.
