ASHLAND, Ohio – Five Truman wrestlers have advanced to the second day of the NCAA Super Regional in Ashland, Ohio on Saturday. Ryan Maus is in the semi-finals of the 149-pound bracket while four others will be looking to survive and advance on Sunday.

Maus was seeded third in the weight class and won his only match of the day by fall over Findlay (Ohio) Jan Steven at the 4:37 mark.  He will face Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) Marc Smith for a berth into the national meet on Sunday. If Maus is victorious in the match, he would finish in the top four which is the magic spot to go on to nationals. Smith upset Notre Dame (Ohio) Jonatan Rivera in overtime. Rivera was the second seeded wrestler in the bracket.

Alex Maus lost his opener to #2 Maurice Miller of Notre Dame (Ohio) 4-1 but came back to defeat Thomas McVicker by fall to advance to Sunday.

Colton Schmitz won his first match at 157 by pin but then dropped a 6-5 decision to #2 Bobby Williams of Ouachita Baptist (Ark.).  Schmitz bounced back with a 3-1 decision over King (Tenn.) College’s Jeremy Miller.

Dustin McClintlock and Ryan Ward are still active in the wrestlebacks in their respective weight classes.

McClintlock survived his first elimination match by defeating Central Missouri’s Marcus Sunde by tech fall in the 165 weight class and Ryan Ward won 8-2 over Belmont Abby’s Kelly Baker in the 285 bracket.
