The Truman Baseball team will begin the 2013 campaign in Topeka, Kan. this weekend when they face Washburn (Kan.) University in the season and conference opener for both schools.

The teams are scheduled for a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. Action will begin at 1:00 p.m. on both days.

Truman was 16-32 last season and 13-25 in the MIAA while the Ichabods were 27-24 a year ago and finished fourth in the MIAA with a 22-18 record.

Washburn took three of four against the Bulldogs last year with two of the games decided by one run.

The Ichabods won the opener 1-0 behind a complete-game six-hitter by Brett Ash. In the second game, Washburn scored all five of their runs in the first two innings and won 5-2.

Truman took game three of the series 3-0 with Bret Gerstner tossing a complete game two-hitter for the Bulldogs.

In the series finale, the Bulldogs scored three runs in the second but Washburn chipped away and tied the game two innings later. A Tyler Bean home run in the seventh was the difference in the 4-3 loss.
