TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Tosha Tyler’s three-pointer and subsequent free throw with 24 seconds remaining gave the Northeastern (Okla.) State Riverhawks a 46-44 come from behind victory over the #19 Truman Bulldogs on Saturday on the road.

The Riverhawks (16-6; 11-3 MIAA) took their first lead of the game at the 6:10 mark on Taylor Lewis’ three-pointer.

However with 1:23 left, Amy Briggs dropped in a long range three as the shot clock expired to put Truman (16-5; 9-4 MIAA) back up 40-39.

NSU was forced to chew up four team fouls in the final minute to put Truman in the bonus and Allie Norton connected on four free throws in the next 15 seconds to put the Bulldogs up 44-41 with 33 left.

On the next Riverhawks possession, Tyler buried in a right-wing triple and Megan Sharp was called for a foul to give Tyler the four-point play and the NSU lead at 45-44.

McHenry’s runner fell off and Truman needed to foul with six seconds left.

Sarah Green made one of two and McHenry got it to the arc but again the shot was short to allow the Riverhawks to claim the win.

Norton matched her career high with 20 points going 4-of-7 from outside and those four free throws in the final minute.

McHenry added 10 with nine rebounds.

Green was the top scorer for NSU with 11 points while the season leading scorer Lewis was held to just eight points on 3-of-11 shooting.

The Bulldogs return home to face Southwest Baptist (Mo.) University on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to join the Bulldogs and wear pink in the annual Think Pink game.
