(AP) -- COLUMBIA, Mo.- Missouri athletics director Mike Alden says the NCAA's move to review its own investigation into possible recruiting violations at Miami "raises lots of questions" that could cause harm well beyond Coral Gables and Columbia.
NCAA President Mark Emmert announced six days ago that former investigators on the Miami case improperly collaborated with lawyers for disgraced Hurricane booster Nevin Shapiro, a convicted felon.
The internal inquiry came as the NCAA was poised to release a notice of allegations against Miami after Shapiro claimed to provide cash, cars, prostitutes and other impermissible benefits to dozens of Miami football players and other athletes between 2002 and 2010 with the knowledge of multiple coaches and athletics employees.
Missouri men's basketball coach Frank Haith spent seven seasons at Miami before Alden hired him in 2011. CBSSports.com has reported that Haith will face charges of unethical conduct by the NCAA.
