(AP) -- St. Louis baseball fans are preparing to say goodbye to Stan the Man.

A six-hour public visitation for Cardinals great Stan Musial begins at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Cathedral Basilica.

Big crowds are expected. Police will be on hand to assist with parking.

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is urging fans not to bring mementos to the cathedral, but leave them instead at the Musial Statue at Busch Stadium.

Also, fans are asked not to take photographs inside the cathedral.

Musial died last Saturday at the age of 92, still a beloved figure in St. Louis 50 years after his retirement from baseball.

A private funeral Mass is at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by a procession to Busch Stadium, where the family will lay a wreath at the Musial statue.
