Truman State Wrestling Crushes Central Baptist

The Truman Wrestling team steamrolled to a 44-4 victory over Central Baptist (Ark.) College on Thursday night in Pershing Arena.

Truman improves to 5-2 overall and will return to the mats on Saturday at the Missouri Valley Open.
 
JJ Dorrell kicked things off with an energetic 14-5 victory in the opener. Dorrell scored three takedowns in the first three minutes to win by major.
 
Tyler Stanley followed by grinding out a 9-0 win at 133. Stanley used a pair of takedowns and a reversal to pick up his first win as a Bulldog.
 
Then the floodgates opened for the Bulldogs. Nick Shea stuck Antonio Riviera in 1:56, Colton Schmitz followed with a fall win at 1:55 and Luke Knocke pinned Austin Gonzalez at 165  at the 2:43 mark to put Truman up big. Ryan Maus was awarded a forfeit win at 149.
 
After Sean Brown was defeated at 184, Helmut Rentschler scored 14 points in the first period en route to a tech fall victory at 197.

Ryan Ward closed things out with a 12-3 victory at heavyweight.
 
Truman’s next dual will by January 30 against nationally ranked Central Oklahoma in Pershing Arena at 7:30 p.m.
