IOWA CITY, IA -- The Iowa Hawkeyes hosted the Islanders of Texas A&M. Coach McCaffery decided to start the game a little differently today. although the starting lineup is already young, he wanted to make it younger starting freshman guard Anthony Clemmons. he wanted to see if clemmons speed could assist in the lineup. McCaffery's intuition was correct, but one thing he didn't expect was such an electric performance from junior Melshan Basabe who came off the bench and scored 13 points in just over two and half minutes in the first half. he finished with a game high 17 points in just 13 minutes of play.
the hawkeyes improve to six and two after this victory and are staying at home for the next few games facing South Dakota next on Tuesday.
