Four players set new career-highs and six reached double-figures, as the Truman men’s basketball team made quick work of Central Christian (Mo.) 102-45 on Monday night in Pershing Arena.
Tyler Anderson led all players with 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting, while Marek Bush added a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double off the bench for the Bulldogs (1-2).
The purple and white topped the 100 point mark for the first time in nearly 10 years with the victory.
It was all Truman from the start, as the Bulldogs built an 11-0 lead in the first three and a half minutes before expanding the margin to 30-1 at the 8:44 mark of the first half.
The ’Dogs would lead by as many as 40 in the first half and by a game-high 59 at the 1:22 mark of the second half on the way to the 57-point victory.
Anderson, Bush, Matt Patterson (seven points, seven assists) and Dominic Kacich (six points) all set new career-highs as returning players.
Bush and Patrick Burmester paced all players with 10 rebounds (five offensive apiece) each, while Patterson’s seven assists and EJ Hicks' six led the Bulldogs’ 31 total assists on 41 made baskets for the game.
Truman shot 51% from the field, 34% from long-range and 73% from the foul line, while CCCB (1-4) connected on just 26% of its field goal attempts.
The Bulldogs also used their distinct height advantage to outscore the Saints 52-10 in the paint, while also turning 22 CCCB turnovers into 32 points.
The Bulldogs, who had 10 players see anywhere between 15-23 minutes of action in the contest, return to the court tomorrow night for a key rivalry contest at Quincy (Ill.) University.
Tipoff with the future GLVC-foe is set for 7:30 inside QU’s Pepsi Arena.
