The 15th-ranked Truman volleyball team overcame a slow start, blasting.264 on the night and getting double-digit kills from Allie Brak, Abby Heise and Ali Patterson to win 3-1 at Missouri Western on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs (24-4, 12-2 MIAA) earned their 15th-straight victory with Tuesday’s four-set win, overcoming a split of the first two sets to pick up the 3-1 (-22, 19-25, -22, -15) victory. Missouri Western falls to 13-14 (4-10 MIAA) after the season sweep by the purple and white.

Brak (18 kills), Heise (16 kills) and Patterson (15 kills) blew away the Griffons on Tuesday, as Brak and Patterson combined for 16 digs on the outside with Heise hitting a robust .542 in reaching a new career-high in kills for the ’Dogs. Emily Briseno added a .455 mark with five kills, while the Bulldog defense suffocated MWSU to just a combined .079 hitting mark in the final two sets.

Sophomore Meghan Zimmerman finished with 52 assists and nine digs, while fellow sophomore Abby Moser’s 15 digs also were a match-high.

The match featured 16 ties and seven lead changes, as the Griffons pushed the Bulldogs early before Truman eventually pulled away.

The Bulldogs will return to Pershing Arena for the final time in the 2012 regular season this weekend, facing Missouri Southern on Friday night at 7:00 pm before welcoming No. 6 Central Missouri on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm for Senior Day.
