Sophomore setter Meghan Zimmerman was named the MIAA Specialist of the Week following the Bulldogs’ 2-0 trip to then-No. 1 Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State last weekend.

Zimmerman became the first Truman setter to earn the conference’s weekly award for setters and liberos since Nov. 12, 2007, when Amanda Holliday earned the nod from the league office. In two matches last weekend, Zimmerman averaged 12.14 assists and 3.57 digs per set in a 3-1 win at UNK and a 3-0 sweep of FHSU.

She set new career-highs with 56 assists and 17 digs, while also adding four blocks, in Truman’s upset of top-ranked UNK, before capping the weekend with a 29-assist, eight-dig effort in the Tiger sweep.

She is averaging 10.18 assists and 2.75 digs per set on the season and leads the Bulldogs with 33 service aces.

In addition, the Bulldogs jumped back into the AVCA top-25 coaches’ poll on Monday afternoon, sliding in at No. 20 following the team’s 18-4 record through mid-October.

Truman is one of four MIAA teams in the top-25, joined by Washburn (No. 3), UNK (No. 5), and Central Missouri (No. 7). The program has now been ranked in the top-25 157 times dating back to the 2000 season.

Truman travels out of conference to future GLVC-foe Missouri S&T on Tuesday (Oct.16) for a 7:00 pm first serve before returning to Pershing Arena this weekend for Homecoming matches on Friday and Saturday, both at 7:00 pm.
